Overview

What is RoofingCalc Pro?

RoofingCalc Pro is a professional roofing calculator for roofers, contractors, estimators, insurance adjusters, apprentices and DIY homeowners who need fast, correct roofing math on the job site — even with no signal.

Roofing math is not hard, but it is easy to get wrong on a ladder in the sun: converting footprint to sloped area, area to squares, squares to bundles, run and pitch to rafter length, and all of it to a price with waste. RoofingCalc Pro does those conversions instantly and keeps every calculation in history.

It is deliberately simple: no aerial measurement subscriptions, no per-report fees, no CRM. You bring the measurements; it gives you the numbers and a PDF. Everything runs locally on the device — it works on the roof, in rural areas, anywhere.

Completely free. Every feature is included — no hidden costs, no premium tier, no ads, no popups. RoofingCalc Pro collects zero data: no account, no analytics.

Workflow

How to estimate a re-roof in five steps

A typical re-roof estimate with RoofingCalc Pro, from tape measure to PDF.

  1. Measure the footprint and pitch.Measure the building footprint including overhangs, and get the pitch — rise over a 12-inch run. If you only have degrees or percent, the pitch calculator converts it.
  2. Calculate area and squares.Enter dimensions and pitch in Roof Area & Materials. You get sloped area in square feet and roofing squares. Example: a 2,000 sq ft footprint at 6/12 pitch (slope factor ≈ 1.118) is about 2,236 sq ft, or ≈ 22.4 squares.
  3. Get materials.Read off shingle bundles, underlayment rolls and ridge cap. Standard 3-tab and many architectural shingles run three bundles per square — check the manufacturer's coverage for the product you use.
  4. Price the job.In the Job Cost Estimator, enter material cost per square, labor rate and a waste factor (commonly around 10% for simple gables and more for complex hip roofs with valleys). You get materials, labor, waste and total.
  5. Export the PDF.Generate the one-page report and send it to the client or adjuster. The calculation stays in history for when the client calls back.

In practice

Situations where RoofingCalc Pro helps

Illustrative examples of how the features fit into a day, not user reviews.

The storm-damage claim

An adjuster inspects hail damage on a rural property with no signal. She enters the footprint and pitch, calculates replacement area and cost, and exports the PDF for the claim file before leaving the driveway.

The Saturday bid

A small roofing crew owner quotes three jobs on a Saturday. Each takes minutes: measure, calculate squares and bundles, apply his labor rate and a 12% waste factor, and send the PDF from the truck.

Cutting rafters for a shed

A homeowner framing a 10×12 shed with a 4/12 roof uses the rafter calculator for common rafter length and double-checks the pitch in degrees for the miter saw.

Checking a quote

Before hiring a roofer, a homeowner estimates squares and material quantities herself — and walks into the quote conversation knowing roughly what the job requires.

Pricing

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is RoofingCalc Pro really free?

Yes. Every feature is included — no hidden costs, no per-report charges, no premium tier, no ads and no popups.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. All calculations run locally on your device, so it works on the roof, in rural areas and anywhere without signal.

How many squares is my roof?

One roofing square is 100 square feet of roof surface. Multiply the footprint area by the slope factor for your pitch to get sloped area, then divide by 100. RoofingCalc Pro does this for you from footprint dimensions and pitch.

How many bundles of shingles per square?

Many standard 3-tab and architectural shingles need three bundles per square, but coverage varies by product — always check the manufacturer's label. RoofingCalc Pro calculates bundles, underlayment rolls and ridge cap from your roof area.

How do I convert roof pitch to degrees?

Pitch is rise over a 12-inch run. Degrees = arctangent(rise ÷ 12). For example, 6/12 ≈ 26.6°, 4/12 ≈ 18.4°, 12/12 = 45°. The pitch calculator converts between ratio, degrees and percentage in either direction.

Can it calculate hip and valley rafters?

Yes. Enter run and pitch to get common, hip and valley rafter lengths using the correct slope and hip/valley factors.

Can I send an estimate to a client?

Yes. Export a professional one-page PDF with all calculations and send it from the job site.

Does it measure my roof from satellite images?

No. RoofingCalc Pro is a calculator — you enter the measurements. For aerial measurement, services like GAF QuickMeasure or EagleView sell reports.

What data does RoofingCalc Pro collect?

None. No account, no analytics, no ads. Your calculations stay on your device.

Is it safe to measure a roof myself?

Roof work is dangerous. Use proper fall protection and never go on a wet, icy or steep roof without training and equipment. Measuring from the ground or from plans is often safer for homeowners.
