Overview
How we ranked these apps
Search the App Store for "affirmations" and you mostly get the same idea: a feed of short positive lines, a widget and reminders. That works well for many people. A few apps go further and let you hear words in your own voice. This ranking covers five apps worth installing in 2026 and who each one actually suits.
Across 5 apps we looked at what matters day to day, not just what looks good in screenshots:
Format. Short lines to read, quotes, recorded audio, or a longer personal scene?
Your own voice. Can you hear the words in your voice — and what happens to the recording?
Personalization. Are the words written around your goal, or chosen from a library?
Everyday reach. Widgets, reminders and short formats for busy days.
Free tier and pricing. What you can do without paying, and what Premium costs.
Track record. Ratings, review volume and how long the app has existed.
None of these apps is therapy or medical care, and none can guarantee an outcome. If you're in crisis, call or text 988 (US) or your local emergency number.
The Ranking
5 best affirmation apps for iPhone in 2026
01
Herself — Best for a Personal Scene in a Voice Made From Yours (Our App, Full Disclosure)
Disclosure. Herself is built by Loveiko Labs — the studio publishing this article. We rank it first for people who want words written around their own goal; if you want a free, large library of short lines, see #2–#5.
What it is. You tell Herself what you want — to believe in yourself, love, calm about money, a new job, a home of your own — and add a line in your own words. You read aloud for 15 seconds, then hear a one-minute scene where your moment has already gone well, read by an AI voice made from your recording. A self-practice tool for calm and confidence, for adults 18+.
Best for. People who want something personal rather than generic, and a short listen before a big conversation, in the morning or at night.
Strengths. First chapter right away, the second on day 4, then a new chapter every week, built from what changed for you. Line of the day on Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets. A 20-second version of your own lines on repeat. Change any sentence for free and re-voice once within an hour. The recording is deleted right after the voice copy is made; the voice copy is deleted within an hour after the scene; scenes stay on your iPhone.
Limitations. Released October 2026 — no ratings yet. No free tier beyond a 7-day trial on Weekly ($7.99/week after; $39.99/year with no trial). You need to read a fresh 15 seconds aloud before each chapter. One scene per week unless you buy extra chapters.
I am — Best Free Daily Affirmations on Your Lock Screen
What it is. A long-running daily affirmations app from Monkey Taps (on the App Store since 2014). You choose from many daily intentions, get reminders throughout the day, and see affirmations on your Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets.
Best for. Anyone who wants a simple, free way to keep a positive line in front of them all day.
Strengths. 4.8★ from about 734K ratings at time of writing (October 2026). Free download; very mature widgets and reminders.
Limitations. Library-based rather than written around your goal; the listing does not describe audio in your own voice. Premium is a monthly, yearly or lifetime purchase.
ThinkUp — Best for Recording Affirmations in Your Real Voice
What it is. An affirmations app where you pick from 300+ affirmations across 10+ life goals (or write your own), record them in your own voice, add music and an image, and listen daily. It can log practice time to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes.
Best for. People who want to hear their actual voice — not an AI copy — and are happy to record each line themselves.
Strengths. 4.7★ from about 7.5K ratings at time of writing (October 2026). Free version lets you record up to three affirmations. US Premium per its listing: $7.99/month, $39.99/year or $99.99 for life.
Limitations. You do the recording and assembling yourself. No widget listed on its App Store page.
Mantra — Best Big Library With Optional Voice Recording
What it is. A daily affirmations app with more than a thousand "I am" affirmations across 30+ categories, daytime and bedtime reminders, your own collections and affirmations, voice recording on repeat, manifestation and guided affirmation sessions, and customizable themes and ambient sounds.
Best for. People who want a lot of variety and the option to record their own voice, all in one app.
Strengths. 4.8★ from about 34K ratings at time of writing (October 2026). Free download; broad feature set.
Limitations. Library-first — personalization means choosing or adding lines rather than a scene written around your goal. Premium options are in-app purchases; no widget listed on its App Store page.
Motivation — Best for Daily Quotes Instead of Affirmations
What it is. A daily quotes app from Monkey Taps, the makers of I am. Thousands of quotes by category — self-esteem, relationships, stress, work, mindfulness and more — with reminders and a Home Screen widget.
Best for. People who prefer other people's words — quotes and sayings — to first-person affirmations.
Strengths. 4.8★ from over 1 million ratings at time of writing (October 2026). Free download; customizable widgets and themes.
Limitations. Quotes, not personal affirmations or audio. The free version shows ads; Premium removes them and unlocks all themes and categories.
We put our own app first only where we can say why. Here is where each app genuinely wins — including the cases where ours is not the right pick. App Store ratings, review counts and features were checked at time of writing, October 2026.

What none of these apps do
None of these apps — including ours — is therapy, counseling or medical care, and none can promise that a goal will happen. They are self-practice tools: a few minutes and a kinder line in front of you.
If low mood, anxiety or self-criticism is affecting your daily life, a qualified professional can help in ways an app cannot. If you're in crisis, call or text 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency number.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Why did you rank your own app first?
Herself is the only app in this list that writes a one-minute scene from your own answers and reads it in a voice made from yours, with new chapters over time. It is also the newest app here, with no ratings yet and no free tier beyond the trial — if a free, proven library matters most, I am, Mantra and Motivation have far larger review bases.
What is the best free affirmation app?
I am, Mantra and Motivation are free to download, with optional Premium subscriptions. ThinkUp has a free version that lets you record up to three affirmations. Herself starts with a 7-day free trial on the Weekly plan and is a paid subscription after that.
Can I hear affirmations in my own voice?
Yes. ThinkUp and Mantra let you record affirmations in your real voice and listen back. Herself takes a different route: you read a 15-second text aloud and your scene is read by an AI voice made from that recording. The recording is deleted right after the voice copy is made, and the voice copy is deleted within an hour after the scene.
Do affirmation apps work?
We don't make claims about outcomes, and no app on this list can guarantee one. Treat these apps as self-practice tools — a few calm minutes and a kinder line in front of you. They are not therapy or medical care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (US) or your local emergency number.
Which affirmation apps have a widget?
I am and Herself both put a line on your Lock Screen and Home Screen. Motivation offers a Home Screen widget for quotes. At time of writing, ThinkUp and Mantra did not list a widget on their App Store pages.
Your goal, your words — in a voice made from yours.
